Affordable Care Act Exchange

ACA Exchange

One of the most important provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the mandate that requires that every individual have health care insurance. People who already have health care insurance will not have to make any changes if, for example, they have insurance through their employer. Individuals who do not have insurance will be required to purchase insurance through an Exchange.

In Connecticut the Exchange is called Access Health CT. For more detailed information on the Exchange go to accesshealthCT.com. Everyone is required to have insurance by January 1, 2014.
Many individuals will be able to get a discount to help them pay the insurance premium, deductibles, and co-pays. Low income individuals will be able to determine if they are eligible for Medicaid.

At the end of the first enrollment period (March 31, 2014) over 7 million uninsured people had signed up for health care insurance. Here in Connecticut over 200,000 individuals signed up.

CFC expects that there will be many glitches as the system begins. If you have a problem, call CFC at 860-524-0502.
